Encouraging our children to become independent is a vital yet challenging role for us educators.

Allowing them to be independent is a way of developing and establishing trust in our children. This, in turn, enables children to make the most of the learning opportunities we share.

During the session we will share ideas and play experiences that highlight how becoming independent

• promotes confidence and self-esteem as well as motivation and perseverance.
• fosters self-reliance, allowing each child to feel they have control over their play and their day.
• gives each child a sense of importance and belonging which is essential for building social relationships and for contributing to the world.
• develops their levels of self-awareness and sensitivity towards others which teaches them to help those around them.
